My research program includes studies in Evolutionary Biology and Conservation Genetics. I am interested in the interaction between environmental change and the evolutionary processes of lineage divergence and extinction. Beginning with my dissertation work on speciation in African cichlids at the University of New Hampshire, and continuing with an ORISE/EPA fellowship where I developed an alternative animal model (mysid shrimp) for use in conservation genetic studies, my research program has been active in these complementary aspects of evolutionary population biology. Both areas rely on integrating molecular population genetic approaches with appropriate environmental, geographic, ecological or behavioral data sets.
